Contact Me!

Phone:

Forewarning, this will cause international charges for you!!!

Contry/area code is 011229
My phone number is: 67713145

combine the two and you have me. Just remember I'm seven hours ahead of you (Colorado), and if you wake me up in the middle of the night, I will return the favor in kind.

Shipping:

Do not ship Fed-Ex, USP, USPS Express, DHL, or any variation thereof.
Ship only with USPS first class!!!

Be aware that shipping to Benin (or Africa in general) is expensive. I've heard of the flat rates going anywhere from $60 to $100 per box. So by all means, a hand written letter means a lot too. Those cost about $1.05.

Finally, do NOT ship in a box if at all posible. I know it can be cheaper, but it takes way longer to get here (like three months instead of three weeks).
Instead, use a large bubble wrap envelope.

So without further adu, here is my address

PCV Joshua Godshall
Corps de la Paix
01 B.P. 971 Cotonou, Benin
West Africa / Afrique de l'Ouest

IF it's a letter sized (9 1/2 x 11) bubble wrap OR SMALLER you can send it to this address for faster shipping:

PCV Joshua Godshall
01 B.P. 037 Banikoara, Benin
West Africa / Afrique de l'Ouest

IMPORTANT:
Write "Par Avion" on the package
Write "Dieu te regarde" (God is watching you) or . . .
write/draw a cross on it to discourage theft

I will be sure to reply in kind to every letter and package I recieve. (I'll be honest, its kind of like buying my love)

  1. Josh! I finally had a moment to read your Blog - the summer is winding down. How I loved it! Your experiences are so PC and I could relate to so many of them, "head exploding, chickens crowing, being a "foreigner", wonderful family, making water, head exploding, fearless driving, head exploding, and most of the rest! Didn't have to have a rabiis shot though, and I agree, such great medical care.
We have had a GREAT summer here at the Corps - almost 100% retention/completion (95.6). Lots of cool projects and great people. The Waldo Canyon Fire added some excitment but we all survived and are anxious to begin restoration work. Keep those blogs coming, can't wait to see photos.

  2. Hi - My name is Chris and I work for Other Places Travel Guides, a book publisher with a series of travel guides written and researched by RPCVs. We're currently looking for a writer to update our guide for Benin (www.otherplacespublishing.com/benin). We're hoping to connect with current PCVs in country and identify someone who will COS in the coming months and is looking for an opportunity to build upon their knowledge and connections in Benin. For more information on the project, please feel free to email me at cbeale@otherplacespublishing.com. Also, please share this opportunity with fellow PCVs or anyone else who may be interested. Thank you for your time. Chris

  3. Neal Armstrong passed along your email to me, albeit via FB so I don't have a regular email address for you. Anyway, I was the PCV in Goumori prior to Neal, so what you were saying about ...electricity...and cell phones....too trippy for words! I haven't had a chance to read the blog, but you can bet your sweet bippy I will be reading it in its entirety. I'd like to catch you on FB, because your email to Neal said you were posting pictures there. I just had a crummy film camera, so my photo record is negligible. Hardly any friends / relatives came all the way out to my post (can't exactly blame 'em, I suppose), so I'll be passing along the blog and possibly sharing photos, if that's cool.

Btw, I have the FB contact for Angela Zettler, who was there briefly after Neal, though she didn't stay the 2 years. If you're interested, I can pass that along to you. Or pass you along to her, if SHE'S interested. Whee!

  4. Hi Joshua,

I hope this message finds you well. I appreciate the information you have posted here. I am wondering about how much self-disclosure or personal transparency is valued by those reviewing essays? I have taken out that I lived with depression for quite some time. Any knowledge you have on how much this may work against me is appreciated. It is of course part of my journey but not something that defines my future.

    Best on your journey.

  5. Hi. I am Yesena Bruno and I am reading your blog because I am trying to apply for the PC. I am applying for a position that leaves in august 2016 and the deadline date for applying is january 1 2016. So, my question is, I'm late to apply for that position?
